Second WClub Doll of 2014 - Joyous Celebration Poppy Parker!

Last week, we got a 'sneak' of the second WClub doll of the year.  I call them sneaks, but they were really just nothing.  There was some hot pink netting that made a LOT of people think it was going to be Jem, but it's Poppy, using hot pink in a surprising way.  The dress she's wearing has been compared to a vintage Japanese Francie doll.  I'm not familiar with that dress, but as a gown-hater, I actually kinda dig this dress she's wearing.  The vintage fabric and hot pink underskirt is an interesting juxtaposition.

This is Poppy Parker's 5th anniversary, and there is wording in the email that she's the first of the 5th anniversary collection.  So, expect more Poppy in the future.  That may mean at the convention, or maybe we'll get another 'for everyone' release.  It's very wait and see.  This year's dolls have all been great so far, even the ones that I didn't want (except for Saturday Night Fever - I still don't know why they made that set), and this new Poppy is no different!

If you may notice, she looks VERY similar to the hard to get Bergdorf Goodman Poppy, who usually goes on ebay for about $1500.  Sheesh.  So, this gal with her similar screening and coloring will be as close as most people (including myself) will be to her.  Hopefully her hair isn't really bald under that updo.  But I plan to find out.  I'm never afraid to take hair down.  If it's bald, I can just put the hair back in a ponytail until I can do a partial reroot.

Okay, so here are the pics - I'm sure you just skipped over all this text just to get to them.  Poppy is selling for $120, and ships sometime in the fall, which is a bit nebulous.  They're asking a $20 deposit, and I wish they'd make the deposit a *little* more, because we as Canadians don't usually get charged customs on things that are less than $100.  IT will mark it as the final payment amount, so if the down payment had been $35, there would have been a better chance of not having to pay 15% plus the $10 brokerage fee from Canada Post.
