O Children (Giselle Redressed)

"O Children" - Nick Cave And The Bad Seeds

This is such a beautifully sad song.  It's been around for a long time, but gained fame in film 'Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows (part 1)'.  It's where Harry and Hermione are dancing together while on the run.  Speaking of Harry Potter, the awesome Leah is making me a set of the HP novels for my gals, as well as a few other literary goodies.  My girls NEED Harry Potter, since it's such a fandom for myself.  Hell, I even have a Dark Mark tattoo.  She'll also be making me The Hellbound Heart novella by Clive Barker (the basis for my fave horror flick ever - Hellraiser).  She'll also be making me three comics.  Can't wait to get them.

This song suits poor Giselle.  She experienced a harrowing night of sexual assault along with 5 of her friends, and it left her emotionally and mentally stunted.  She was the only survivor, having killed the perpetrator with her bare hands.  Now, she's like a 12 year old in a 18 year old's body.  Her sister Agnes takes care of her, and has essentially become her mother.  It's also why Agnes is so dedicated to her job as a homicide detective - so nobody else has to be in Giselle's situation.

Luckily (if there can be any luck from Giselle's situation) she remembers very little of that night.  Here, she's enjoying playing with her kitty friend with childish abandon.
