OMG Best Webinar EVAR - Jem And The Holograms!

Gotta keep up with the Crazy Data Face!  (yes, that's what I named the image).  Every line was fantastic!

Dolls are aesthetically pleasing, Captain!
So, we all knew that Jem was coming, since Integrity told us what lines were coming.  I knew my wallet was safe here, but I'm still a big Jem fan at heart, so I always like looking at the images at release time, and then all the IRL shots as people get the dolls.  And this wave of Jem dolls is just fantastic.  I think Jem doll fans are over the moon with some of these.

Constance "Clash" Montgomery:

THREE heads.  THREE.  Wow!  So, people who wanted to see the purple hair like her doll, and like the later seasons of the show, and people who wanted to see her early look, can both be happy and high-fiving each other!  Not to mention that you get one of Clash's disguise heads!  So fucking cool that they did this for fans.  And I LOVE that she has the Cool Trash issue where Jem goes berserk. (In that episode, Clash was pretending to be Jem and acting all like Justin Beiber and being a general shit-head to ruin Jem's career - I love that episode).  If I were getting this gal, I'd want two so I could have both Clash heads displayed, and then I'd get a spare body and a purple halter dress like in the TV show so I could have 'Constance'.  Also love that she didn't get that stupid.... whatever it was, like the original doll had.  Some sort of scrambler slash TV with bad reception.  Anyway, she's got her wrist cymbals, like she should.

Vivian "Video" Montgomery:

You can't have Clash without Video!  I LOVE how muted Video is compared to her original Hasbro doll.  The old doll's makeup was a clusterfuck.  If you really looked at the shapes and stuff, it made no sense, and was NOT a good representation of the character on the show.  At least in my opinion.  She also has INCREDIBLE accessories.  The Jem line never scrimps on that sort of thing.  Her camera is very '80s accurate, and it's also pivotal.  Which is too cool.  They used the Kimber sculpt for Clash, and the Jerrica sculpt for Video.  They said it's because they wanted to preserve family resemblance between the Montgomery cousins, and I think that's a FANTASTIC idea.  They really are thinking of nearly everything with these Jem dolls.  A complete labor of love.

Giselle "Danse" Divorak:

I think that this was the doll that a lot of people were waiting for.  She's definitely better than her Hasbro counterpart, but I still wish her hair had been longer and like a trailing rainbow of ribbons.  It looks like there's a lot of blonde here, but we don't get a back shot, so it's hard to know until we have the gal in hand.  Her face is sublime (of course it is - it uses the Pizzazz sculpt)  Love that they included her signature lavender workout suit.  It looks just like the cartoon when she's wearing it.  I've never been HUGE about Danse, aside from thinking she's really pretty.  But, "When It's Only Me And The Music" is my FAVE Jem And The Holograms song bar none, and that's pretty much the Danse theme song.

Regine Caesare:

Seems like this is the one that everyone wanted!  I think the Jemverse broke in two when Regine was shown.  She's LOVELY, but I've never been a big fan of Regine as a character, and the outfit is very... dotty, so I'm not as jazzed about her as fans of her character.  But, her face is GORGEOUS, and her hair is lovely.  I do love the bodice part of her top with the front lacing, though.  And it's cool that they looked at the prototype doll images and made her portfolio accurate to that never-released doll.  And I love that she comes with fashion sketches.

All in all, a GREAT Jem line.  I'm sure it made a lot of Jem collectors squeal with glee - and their wallets cry in agony.
